The culmination of Bradley's II Corps campaign in Tunisia was the capture of the port of Bizerte, helping to trap the last of the Axis forces.
Manton Eddy's 9th Division advanced into Bizerte with the support of M3 medium tanks of the 751st Tank Battalion.
While the use of tanks for infantry support became common place in the later campaigns in Italy and the European theatre, at the time of the Tunisian campaign, there were no firm guidelines or doctrine.
Bradley had made imaginative and successful use of tank support earlier in the campaign. For the final push to the Tunisian coast, he insisted that infantry receive tank support when possible, especially in urban missions.
