Battle of Cowpens, January 17, 1781

The battle of Cowpens was one of the decisive battles of the American Revolution.
Here we see part of the final phase of the battle.
Continental infantry and militia launched a final counter attack, while Patriot dragoons and mounted militia, who the British commander Tarleton thought had earlier fled the battlefield, circled behind the British and unexpectedly attacked the British light infantry and Fraser's Highlanders from the left flank and rear.
The British infantry surrendered en masse and a major part of Cornwallis's army- including many of his best Regulars was lost.
