The fight for Djebel Semmama. February 19, 1943 (German view)

This painting is a German view of the fight on the eastern side of the Kasserine Pass on the foothills of Djebel Semmama.

With the Germans having failed in an earlier attempt to force a passage through the Kasserine Pass, the soldiers of Panzergrenadier-Regiment Afrika were sent to sweep resistance from the Kasserine-Thala road and drive the Americans off the slopes of Djebel Semmama.
The rugged terrain is treacherous and difficult to navigate as the German soldiers are met with stubborn American resistance. The fire from the rocks above is taking its toll with Panzergrenadiers becoming casualties among the rocks.
Under the shouted orders of their Leutnant, soldiers hurry forward to bring the platoon MG 34 into action and supress the hail of American gun fire, while the rest of the men return fire or scramble to find what cover they can.
